A Table To Love!

This is an old pine coffee table that was crying out for.....something!

I painted it in Annie Sloan Old White, then a coat of clear wax, then I painted the top in Paris Grey.  Another layer of wax then I sanded with fine grade sand paper until I was happy with the level of distress (the tables, not mine!).
A final wax and then I decided to apply a Banksy style LOVE stencil.  It just made the table a bit different!  And the best thing about these paints is that I can just paint over it when I tire of it!

Brushes At The Ready!

I've had a "painty" day. Trying out the fantastic Annie Sloan chalk paints. This is a set of shelves which you may recognise! I had been "making" & selling these at Aberdeen Antique Centre but this set were getting the full Annie Sloan treatment!

A first coat of Antibes Green, a beautiful, rich colour. Then once dry I gave the shelves a wax with Annie Sloan clear wax.  It's a lovely, soft wax that goes on like a dream!
I then painted the shelves all over with Old White. A coat of clear wax then I sanded lightly to reveal the coloured paint. I then applied some dark wax to give the shelves an aged and worn look.  I am pleased with the effect and the shelves look great in the shop among the French rustic pieces!

Me and Shaun

I have finally had some time to get the blog under way. The shop opened about 2 weeks ago and I honestly don't know where the time has gone.  The shop has changed with every stock arrival.

French Rustic Chic
The shop has distinct areas.  In this room the new oak floor is fresh & clean so it suits the French painted look.  Lots of shabby chic accessories make it a really bright, feminine space.

This room leads through to this area. I put a tough sisal carpet down in here and it gives the room a warmer atmosphere.  The stock in here is quite masculine. Lots of wood, leather, wool, metal & antlers!

There's a great display area from the door from the courtyard.  It is a bit more stocked now than when this photo was taken!

Upstairs has a certain "rustic charm"!  The floor has seen a lot of use and is showing wear but I like it!
